i really liked what i was doing ...but now i think it's time for a change
being a fan of the classic marvel style
that means i'm a fan of over expressive drama and very kinetic action with large panel arrangements
lush scenery and backgrounds and that is not to say they are not doing that now
but some how it's not enough there's something wrong with the old
and the new equation. Characters are more introspective than ever before
back grounds more myopic but the feeling has become lost for a great many
comics produced now. It reminds me of when the comic industry was flooded
with Argentine and phillpine artist like rudy nebres, alex nino ernie chan, ricardo estaban
and so on.. if you think this is a complaint about them your wrong they were some of the most original
and elaborate draftsmen in the business they up the game but what i found fasinating was that
the american comic artist really didn,t follow in the drawing better aspect of it at all. They told a better story
the more they concentrated on the panamime of the characters as if they knew instinctively, collectively that they
were weak in the drawing department but where the best in the characterization area expounding on emotions
was really key that translated into the hyper drama that is superhero comics!! they recognized that some realism had to
be brought about ,but it had to maintain comic book hyperbole .. these are some of my audition pages
looking for all the pencils but until then enjoy these fantastic inks by my man BOB PETRECCA |
like you need to be told it's CAP vs SUPERBOY !!! should'a thew in some shield to go with the cadmus on the side |
there'are two of my fav's |
to apply for freelance work I usually incorporate two to three comic company's at once so i can get the most use and fun!! super hero drama baby!!
